Electrical Systems & Energy Audits
Powered by a Class A Three-Phase Power Quality Analyzer — capturing 500+ parameters to identify hidden inefficiencies.
Electrical Systems & Energy Audits
Our engineering audits are powered by a Class A Three-Phase Power Quality Analyzer — the industry gold standard for high-resolution electrical diagnostics. This Class A compliant instrument automatically captures and logs over 500 power quality parameters simultaneously.
With high-speed transient capture up to 20 MHz, we identify invisible voltage spikes and harmonic distortions that cause premature motor failure, PLC resets, and elevated energy costs — problems that standard maintenance inspection cannot detect.
Beyond diagnostics, TIPS delivers the corrective hardware and engineering: Active Power Filter installation for harmonic mitigation, detuned capacitor bank design and commissioning for power factor correction, and comprehensive energy benchmarking reports with quantified ROI on every corrective measure.
Key Deliverables
- Harmonic analysis & THD profiling — Active Power Filter (APF) installation
- Power factor correction & capacitor bank optimization
- Energy efficiency benchmarking — KVAh consumption and utility penalty reduction
- Total system safety and efficiency inspections
- High-speed transient capture up to 20 MHz

Power Quality Audit & APF Installation — Industrial Client
Sri Lanka
Full power quality audit using our Class A Three-Phase Power Quality Analyzer on an industrial facility experiencing intermittent PLC resets and elevated KVAh billing. THD profiling identified the root cause; Active Power Filter designed and installed.
- Over 500 power quality parameters logged across a 7-day measurement period
- Harmonic distortion root cause identified — variable frequency drives on main supply
- Active Power Filter (APF) specified, supplied, and commissioned
- KVAh consumption reduced; utility demand penalty charges eliminated
- Premature motor failures ceased following corrective installation

Our Electrical Systems & Energy Audits Advantage
Class A precision instrumentation
Our power quality analyzer is a Class A IEC 61000-4-30 compliant instrument — the highest accuracy class defined by international standards. Very few engineering firms in Sri Lanka operate at this level of electrical diagnostic precision.
Diagnose and fix under one contract
TIPS both diagnoses the power quality issue and delivers the corrective hardware — APF, capacitor banks, or switchgear. No need for a separate supplier or installation contractor.
Quantified ROI on every recommendation
Every corrective measure we recommend is backed by measured data and a financial calculation showing payback period and annual saving — no guesswork, no generic recommendations.
Detuned capacitor banks for VFD environments
Standard capacitor banks resonate dangerously with harmonics from variable frequency drives. We design and supply detuned capacitor banks specifically for facilities with multiple VFDs on the supply.
TIPS Commitment
Technically excellent. Commercially sound. Sustainably delivered.
Frequently Asked
A power quality audit is a detailed measurement of your electrical supply over days or weeks, capturing voltage, current, harmonics, power factor, and transients at high resolution. If you experience intermittent PLC trips, motor failures, elevated KVAh billing, or utility demand penalties — a power quality audit will identify the root cause and quantify the corrective action required.
THD is a measure of waveform distortion caused by non-linear loads such as variable frequency drives, UPS systems, and electronic equipment. High THD causes motor overheating, PLC resets, overloaded neutral conductors, and increased energy losses. TIPS profiles THD across all phases and identifies which loads are the primary sources.
Passive filters attenuate specific harmonic frequencies but are fixed and can interact badly with other loads. Active Power Filters (APF) dynamically inject counter-currents in real time to cancel harmonics across all frequencies simultaneously. TIPS designs and installs APF systems for complex industrial environments where passive solutions would be insufficient.
Measurement typically runs for 7 days to capture a representative cycle of operation including production days, shift changes, and weekends. The analyzer is installed and left running unattended. Analysis and reporting follows within 5–7 working days of instrument retrieval.
